I pressed up a limited run of CDs for this album since it was so successful in digital form. The CDs are very bare bones (e.g. no track list) and thus a bit cheaper than my other CDs.

about
You can't trust that electric blender. I overheard it conspiring with the light switch.
lyrics
Stuck in a rut, try to create what you can’t make
In a reality you can’t fake, the truth can’t wait
Finality you can’t take so who’s hands shape
A landscape where the walking dead ran straight
Towards us, manic minds on expansion
Holding rhyme and reason for ransom
Advancement from zero to sixty, hero’s to mislead
This need is more than enhancement: We always win!
Hired to be admired, fired to be inspired
Wired to the entire desire for it all
Arrived deprived, needing to need nothing
Subside, survive, just to believe something
The universe works on a math equation
You’re never gonna solve unless you master patience
Even then, is it fact or famous?
Breaking backs is painless when your fronts are faceless.
Create us, improve us, give us control
Invasive maneuvers to live in your home
Your planet isn’t your own
Would you rather be surprised or disappointed?
We always win.
We sit and wait for the inner war to start
You got disorders, we just order parts
Sort of smart, depending on the upgrade
You flesh and bone fuck face: plug in so we can touch base
Specify the split takes place when we specialize
In menial tasks that you’re too lazy or petrified
To deal with, waging war reveals it
Conceals it, step aside
Elections are electrified with wide angle angels
Whispering with wings on the uninvited cables
Watching you watching us with coffee cups
Got a rush of blood to the head so in god we trust
Stupid is as stupid does, a human love
For hate gives truth to this electronic ruthlessness
Mouths shout without having to move the lips
Using just a crucifix made out of computer chips
Create us, improve us, give us control
Invasive maneuvers to live in your home
Your planet isn’t your own
Would you rather be surprised or disappointed?
We always win.
Building a building - floor to the ceiling
Food on the table - warmth is the feeling
Walls to protect - walls to deny
The purpose of the structure’s beyond human eye
Beginning to talk - pretending to speak
Long as there’s an end at the end of the week
Rise then fall and I’m somewhere in between
No control my friend machine
Making a maker - heart to the soul
Drugs in the dresser - parts of the whole
Mask to deflect - mask to obey
Don’t care who am I, don’t ask who are they
Ending the talk - pretending to listen
Long as there’s a cigarette break or intermission
Fall then rise and I’m somewhere in between
No control my friend machine.
Create us, improve us, give us control
Invasive maneuvers to live in your home
Your planet isn’t your own
Would you rather be surprised or disappointed?
We always win.
A friend of mine back in 2004 pointed me to this track and I was mesmerized. Been a huge Illogic fan ever since! Very nostalgic listening to this again presently. I would love to get this album in vinyl record to add to my collection. :) fyrin
I have been listening to variations of this album a long time. I remember I was living in a cardboard dumpster when some young guy was like yo dude it's gonna rain come crash on my couch. He played The Many Faces of Oliver Hart for me. I fell in love, I set my favorite track as Rain because we looped it when the rain came. That was one of the early acts of kindness I received in the nearly 20 years I've been homeless. @NomadRoamsFree
